Because I'm all about the Industrial Look

Gerald Augistinus posted this very interesting picture of a monstrance, which would be appropriate in a chic urban loft as well as a steel factory:

And I thought the one at our parish was "plain". It looks downright gorgeous compared to this.

I don't mean to be flippant, but it looks very masculine, sort of a "manly, man" monstrance. It seems to be taking the term "utilitarian" to the ultimate expression.

I still prefer the very ornate ones that reflect the beauty that is within. I know some argue that a beautiful piece of art somehow distracts us from the Body of Christ, but I think it only emphasizes it more. Just my opinion.

Wow. I like it.

'Course, I've never been known as someone with a refined sense of aesthetics. I just know what I like, it's shiny but there's not as many distracting bits for me to count and stuff.
